Music Lessons

"The only thing a master can teach is how to learn about yourself. There are no secrets. They are only techniques to waken yourself." - Alejandro Jodorowsky

I teach private lessons out of my home in central Denver. You can study electric bass, guitar, beginning upright bass, music production, composition and theory with me.

I develop a custom curriculum based on your goals and design a practice regimen that fits with your level of commitment. For instrumentalists, I structure the curriculum with a balance of theory, technique and repertoire, with a focus on ear training and achieving mastery of your instrument as a tool of creative expression.

There are some things that are the same for everybody. We take a close look at your technique and make adjustments where necessary. We design a regimen of warm-up and technique building exercises. We get you working with the metronome and building rock solid time. Don't know what people are talking about when they say "in the pocket"? I'll show you how to LIVE there. We'll identify mental and emotional blocks and get them out of the way. This isn't Mel Bay. The lessons learned will translate into all other areas of your life. You will learn discipline, self-respect and you will earn confidence. Musical development goes hand in hand with personal development, and you can not grow one without the other. You will learn universal lessons that can help you achieve mastery in everything you do.

My rates are competitive and I will help you set achievable goals and reach them in reasonable time frames. I'll help you maximize your practice time, even if it is very limited I will show you how to use that time to get better!

Being an accomplished working musician with years of professional experience, I can also offer career advisement. I am networked with other educators and professional musicians so when it is time for you to start gigging or find other musicians to collaborate with, I can be a valuable resource.
